5.12 Children from Abroad (including Migrant Children and Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children

SCOPE OF THIS CHAPTER

There are three guidance documents relating to safeguarding issues faced by Children from Abroad. There are:

  • Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children;
  • No Recourse to Public Funds;
  • Immigration Related Documents.

These documents have been written and developed by Children’s Social Care as lead partner for protecting these children. The original guidance documents sit on Norfolk Children’s Services website. To avoid any issues with version control and ensure that you are working to the most up-to-date guidance, please refer to the Norfolk Children’s Services Procedures Manual, Children From Abroad Procedures.

Non-statutory guidance has also been published entitled Working with Foreign Authorities: Child Protection Cases and Care Order Departmental advice for local authorities, social workers, service managers and children’s services lawyers (July 2014).

AMENDMENT
